Editorial Policy
Rateboard exists to help people understand everyday money numbers and work out what they mean for them. This page explains the standards we follow for data, guides, and calculators.
Data standards
- Public, named sources. Every rate average names its source (Freddie Mac PMMS, the EIA, AAA, the FDIC, the Federal Reserve G.19 release, or the ECB via Frankfurter) on our About page.
- Dated figures. Every figure shows the date it was published by its source. We never present an older figure as "today's" rate and never invent a rate.
- No paid placement in averages. Survey averages are never adjusted, reordered, or sold to advertisers.
- Reference rates are labeled. Currency figures are mid-market reference rates, and we say so wherever they appear.
How guides are written
- Guides are written in plain English by Rateboard Editors to explain a concept and help readers make their own decisions.
- We draw on the verified public sources listed on our About page and official disclosures.
- Every worked example uses illustrative numbers and is labeled as such. Examples show how the math works; they are not current rates, quotes, or predictions.
- We avoid hype, guarantees, and get-rich-quick claims. Guides describe trade-offs, not "best" picks for everyone.
- Each guide links to the matching Rateboard calculator so readers can run their own numbers.
Review and updates
Guides are reviewed when rules change and at least every 6 months. Each guide shows a "last reviewed" date.
Advertising and affiliate separation
- Display ads are served by Google AdSense and labeled "Advertisement."
- Affiliate links are kept few, relevant, and disclosed next to the link. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into our guides, calculators, or averages.
Not advice
Rateboard is educational. Our content is not financial, tax, or legal advice. Readers should confirm figures with a lender, bank, employer, or tax professional.
Corrections
